Over the course of the next six weeks Liverpool City Council will consult on the Draft Tall Buildings SPD that was prepared by Urban Initiatives Studio. The SPD followed on from the preparation of the Liverpool Tall Building Study Evidence Base in 2020 which supported the writing of the Tall Buildings Policy of the Local Plan that was found sound by the inspector and adopted in January 2022. The Tall Building SPD aims to protect and enhance Liverpool’s world famous skyline whilst directing tall buildings into six tall buildings cluster in the city. The guidance further sets out how to establish the appropriateness of proposed tall buildings and provides tall building criteria to assist with their design. During the consultation period there will be three engagement events for stakeholders and the public to ask questions and to comment on the proposed guidance. The consultation will end on September 16th.
