New tall building obtains permission in Dublin Docklands

An Bord Pleanala has granted permission for a 659 home mixed use development on the Castleforbes Business Park site in Dublin’s northern Docklands. Urban Initiatives Studio provided urban design and tall building advice to the developer Glenveigh Living and architects O’Mahoney Pike.  The development will create a new local landmark building of 18 storeys that marks the interface between the busy urban district and the residential East Wall area to the north. The project will deliver a new public space for the community and a cultural facility, alongside homes, office and food/beverage uses for the wider North Docks area. An Bord Pleanala found the proposal to be in accordance with proper planning and the sustainable development of the site, and acceptable in terms of height, density and urban design.
